The Simple Message That Brought This Middle School Class to Tears

The Most Important Lesson in Life!

The most important lesson you must understand is that you are 100% responsible for your life - both the good and the bad.

The formula that I learnt to explain this concept is:

E + R = O (Event + Response = Outcome)

The basic idea is that every outcome that you experience in life (whether it is success or failure, wealth or poverty, wellness or illness, joy or frustration) is the result to how you responded to an earlier event in your life. Things are going to happen in your life whether you like it or not (E), what the difference is will be how you chose to respond to it (R) that will ultimately determine your overall outcome (O).

The results you receive in your AP2 and even in your AS Levels in August, will be in direct relation to the types of choices you make today. Neither your teachers, parents or even peers will be responsible for the results you get - just you! The moment you fully understand that, the less time you will spend making excuses or complaining, and the more time you will spend making better choices. If the choice you make is not moving you towards your goals, then it is actually moving you away from your goals.

So here's to a week of better choices!

This is a gentle reminder that all students in 12D/Ec1 (excluding Abdulrahman and Diellza - although you can come if you choose) will need to meet me tomorrow after school for an hour. Those who do not show up, phone calls home will be made that very same day!
