This is an online event.
Join me on Friday morning, April 3rd, for a Live Stream read-a-loud on our private Facebook page (Lawrence Elementary School Community). You must request access to this page and answer ALL 3 questions in order to be accepted. This is to ensure the safety and privacy of our students and staff.
After the Read-A-Loud Mrs. Burns will do a directed draw from the book!

Blackout Poetry
A blackout poem is when a poet takes a marker (usually black marker) to already established text–like in a newspaper–and starts redacting words until a poem is formed. The key thing with a blackout poem is that the text AND redacted text form a sort of visual poem.
I've used old magazines, junk mail and also printed pictures of book pages. The students love to create their own poetry!
