We love our school counselor!

National School Counseling Week was this week! The week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), highlights the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems and the tremendous impact they can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. We are so thankful for Ms. Carson and her unwavering commitment to our students!

If you didn't get a chance, send our school counselor a note of appreciation! lcarson@cnusd.k12.ca.us

Cultural Day at JFK

BSU goes to the History Bowl

This past Saturday on February 1, 2020- the first day of Black History Month- we (JFK’s Black Student Union) had the honor of participating in the annual Black History Trivia Bowl at San Gorgonio High School. We were one of three teams competing- against San Gorgonio High and Cajon High- and participated in the four rounds of initial competition and also in the semi-finals. We studied black historical trivia in several different areas including civil rights, freedom fighters, politics, inventors, general achievers, literature, science, entertainment, and sports. This was the first event our club has participated in outside of school, and it was a great learning experience! We came together as a team to improve our dynamic and also had the opportunity to learn a lot of different information about our history and culture that we hadn’t known previously. We also got to interact with other schools’ BSU’s in the process, which is always appreciated because it allows us to come together as a larger community who share the same purpose. We are definitely looking forward to participating in this event next year, and many years to come.
