Lincoln Crossing Colt Connection

Mrs. Hladun's Tidings

The state's Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) requires that districts engage in meaningful discussion with parents over the use of our site's funds. We do this through a team called the School Site Council (SSC). In addition, we have an English Language Advisory Council (ELAC) that provides input to how we can best support our English learners and to provide them with resources so they can most effectively support their student.

We will meet at least three times this year:

  • Tuesday, November 5 at 6:45 pm
  • Tuesday, February 25 at 6:45 pm
  • Tuesday, May 19 at 6:45 pm

Our ELAC is open to all families, and special invitations will be sent to the families of our English Learners. We will meet just before each SSC meeting - at 6 pm.

There will be daycare for toilet trained children at both meetings and some yummy snacks! :) Stay tuned for reminders and meeting agendas!

Safety Awareness Day

We look forward to welcoming the Kiwanis Club of Lincoln Foothills and our local first responders to campus on Monday morning for our first ever Safety Awareness Day! Students in grades 3-5 will participate in 8 rotation stations - they'll have the opportunity to learn about things like crosswalk safety, crisis preparation, the K9 unit, CHP, LFD, LPD, the Union Pacific Railroad and more!

On Monday morning before school, we'll gather all students in the MPR instead of on the blacktop so we can finish our set up for this fun event!

You'll see many first responders on campus on Monday - no need for worry - they'll be here from 745am-12:30pm (ish)! All students will have recess and lunch as planned, although they will be on the field instead of on the blacktop!

Grade 3-5 families - we encourage you to send your student with a sweatshirt or jacket, as they will be outside for much of Monday morning.

This event is open to our Gr. 3-5 students and invited guests only. We have lots of volunteers ready to go, thanks to our Kiwanis Club and LCES Leadership Ambassadors!

Dress Code

A reminder that LCES does have a published dress code in our Parent Handbook. Things we most often see are hats worn inside (some teachers may allow hats in their classrooms, however), short clothing lengths, and tops that have very thin straps. Please take a moment to review our dress code online here; you can find it anytime linked in the quick links and at the bottom of our website.

Boundary Study / WPUSD School Board Meeting Discussion

At the School Board meeting on 9/17/19, Superintendent Leaman shared three options for the potential boundaries for LCES and SLES. Mr. Leaman will be hosting community meetings in the coming months to share the boundary options, to share potential ways that students will be assigned to schools (i.e. 5th graders, students on intras, etc...) and to collect input from families. The board will be making a decision in December so that the district is prepared for enrollment and staffing decisions that need to come in early 2020. Stay tuned for the dates/times/locations.

There will also be discussion and decisions this winter about extended day kindergarten options at each WPUSD elementary school as well as a decision to come about where the district's new dual immersion program will be housed.

Here is a color version of the various boundary options that are being considered:

Volunteering at School

District policy indicates that all volunteers are required to have a current TB test on file in the school office. TB tests are valid for 4 years. A Live-Scan fingerprint check is also required for all volunteers who may be working with students unsupervised by a staff member and for field trip chaperones. Although volunteers are typically working in close proximity to the classroom teacher, there may be times where you are working in a separate space or that a teacher may step out for a moment. To that end, we are asking all volunteers to get a Live Scan.

A Live Scan is valid for the adult for as long as any of your children are enrolled in the district (at any district school).

We will be hosting another Live Scan booth at our Boo Bash on 10/26 thanks to Sunset Notary - stay tuned for the times. In the office, we have a copy of firms that can provide Live Scan services in the meantime - stop in and we can get you all the details.

Parking, Drop Off & Pick Up Safety

Please visit our website to view a map that identifies appropriate areas for parking and areas where you can safely drop your child off/pick your child up.

Key info:

  • We provide supervision from 7:55-8:10 am and again from 2:40-3 pm (1:40-2 on Mondays).
  • We find it is less congested before 8 am and after 2:50 pm.
  • Children who are riding a bike, scooter or skateboard must wear a helmet - it's the law!
  • We ask that children walk their wheeled vehicles once they are on campus for everyone's safety.
