A Message from the Principal...
Hi friends,
After three weeks of craziness, I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to being on campus all week. I have missed you!
As I mentioned at the staff meeting last week, LSS has been very supportive of our efforts to build an elective wheel into 6th grade. I thought you might want to know what went into the Board Journal this week regarding this decision...
Twin Peaks Middle School Rethinks Exploratory
Twin Peaks Middle School is working to create new elective choices for sixth grade students. In the new plan, TPMS will replace what used to be known as Exploratory with a four-subject wheel. The new wheel will include a quarter each of STEM, Art, Video Tech and Leadership. The choices in the wheel were determined by student interest and instructor credential areas while keeping in mind the idea of vertical alignment to available Poway High School career pathways. The new plan, which we expect to launch next school year, will create a choice of 5 electives for incoming sixth graders. In addition to the new Elective Wheel, sixth graders will also have the choice of traditional year-long electives including Band and Orchestra along with two new year-long electives, Pre-AVID, and Project Lead the Way Gateway to Technology.
We have re-written the 6th grade course request form and will be visiting our feeder schools this week to discuss the changes. This will be a big change for our students and I pleased we are able to provide them this opportunity.
Have a great week!
Kelly

Spring Dance
Many thanks to Kodi Keller and her ASB students along with the other helpers and volunteers for hosting a wonderful Spring Dance. The kids had a great time and looked so cute dressed in garb to reflect the decades. Also of note, Mrs. Bernardy's 6th grade Art Exploratory students did an amazing job with the decorations. They researched the decades and built works of art based on pop culture. So cool!
