what is Turner Syndrome?
Turner syndrome is a chromosomal disorder in which a female is born with only one X chromosome.
what causes it? how is it aquired?
Turner syndrome results from a missing or incomplete sex chromosome. it is not usually inherited in families.
can it be prevented?
Turner Syndrome cannot be prevented, It is a genetic problem that is caused by a random error.
symptoms and effects
webbed neck, short stature, increase likeliness for obesity, infertility, very late or no menstrual cycle. it can also cause heart problems.
how can it be detected?
it can be detected by parental testing. that usually doesn't happen until later when the girl doesn't hit full puberty.
Treatment options:
Hormone shots or estrogen replacement pills.
