Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
Children living within ISD boundaries are eligible to receive free books mailed directly to their homes each month from the month they are born until age five. As the only affiliate in our area, we look forward to instilling a love for reading in children in our community before they even register for school in the ISD. Find more information on registering here.
ISD Construction Trades Students Receive New Work Boots
ISD students in Construction Trades received brand new quality work boots thanks to Morgan Miller Plumbing and E. Edwards Workwear. The Mobile Safety Shoe Store visited William Chrisman High School to give students the opportunity to try on and select new boots to wear in class and on construction sites as part of their studies. We appreciate our incredible business partners for supporting our students and the Independence School District.

ISD Partners with Hazel Health
The Independence School District partners with Hazel Health to expand student health services. Hazel offers virtual doctor visits accessible from the school nurse’s office for PreK – 12th grade. By gaining access to this tele-health service, many minor visits can be initiated by an ISD nurse in order to obtain a diagnosis without missing a day of learning. Parents will be notified prior to any virtual visit. ISD families can opt-in to Hazel here.
Free and Reduced Meals
Free and Reduced Meals applications must be completed annually for your student to receive meal benefits. You may apply for free and reduced meals here. If you have any questions, please call 816-521-5371.
