The Eagles was down 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Garrett Smith homered on a 3-1 count, scoring three Mikal Goods picked up the win in relief of starter Mike Dodd. GOLF
On Monday, the Eagles soared to Brigantine to attack the Vikings of Atlantic City. Despite the grey skies and the cold winds, the Eagles were victorious 164-222. Katrina Cabinian led the way with a 39 and a birdie. Andrew Ngo shot 41 and both Colin Bagot and Josh Ungerer carded 42s. With his score, Josh became the fourth Eagle to qualify for the CAL tournament, the most of any teams in the league.
Despite the heavy rains at Greate Bay on Wednesday, the Eagles (172) were able to keep flight and salvage a hard-earned split in the tri-match against undefeated St. Augustine (161) and Ocean City (173). Brett Alleva shot 41, Katrina Cabinian shot 42, Josh Ungerer shot 43, and Andrew Ngo shot 46. The Eagles record now stands at 12-3.
The Eagles have a big week coming up, starting with a pivotal CAL matchup against rival Mainland on Thursday, followed by a league match against Vineland on Tuesday sandwiched between the NJSIAA South and Central Jersey Sectional Tournament next Monday at Charleston Springs Golf Course in Millstone and the CAL Individual tournament on Wednesday at The Shore Club in Wildwood.
BOYS TENNIS
Rough week for the boys, losing all respective matches to Mainland and The Prep on Monday and Tuesday. Hopefully they get it together for Thursday, as we will be traveling to Southern Regional High School for the 1st Round of NJSIAA State Team Playoffs. EHT is the 11th seed, while Southern is the 6th seed. Eleven happens to be my favorite number; I'd definitely go with the underdogs in this case!
