KIA ORA WHANAU, FROM MR O
We will be putting out a brief newsletter next Wednesday. Todays newsletter will be the last 'full edition' for 2019!
Reports came home today. Please take the time to read the summation of the year with your child(ren). It has been really rewarding to read these reports and see the progress each student has made over the year at VS. You will also notice on the report (for Yr 1 - 5) students, their class for 2020. On Monday, after assembly, each student will get to visit their new room and meet their teacher for 2020.
If you missed reading the message from the Vogeltown BOT last week, then it is attached in this newsletter again this week - see below.
We have had a fairly settled week with the kids this week - the weather has certainly helped. The kids have been involved in many syndicate activities - water day, teddy bear day, wheels day etc. It has been great to see the kids enjoying the last few days of 2019.
We had a great leaving assembly to day for Mrs Parker. As you will know, Mrs Parker is leaving us at the end of this year for her retirement. A huge thanks to those guests who came to the assembly. Have a look at the photos to see what we got up to!
On Monday we have our Yr 6 leavers assemblies. We have a royal school send off during the day and then a wonderful evening occasion where all whanau are invited. We would love to have all Yr 6 students and families at this event. It starts at 5.30pm for shared kai with the teachers and then 6.00pm in the hall for graduation.
This group of Year 6's has been amazing - the biggest group we have had, but an amazing group of leaders. We also farewell some our families who finish their time at Vogeltown, thanks again to these families for your support of our school over the years.

Big thanks to all parents/caregivers who came and supported the whanau events in 2019 - you are always welcome to Vogeltown, and especially to support the kids in whanau activities!
Bring on 2020!

PAETOKI (SENIOR) SYNDICATE ATHLETIC AWARDS
ENROLMENTS 2020
We have had a flurry of enrolments this week for 2020, if you know of anyone enrolling, can you please get them to inform the office.
Please note, if you have a student who is transitioning to an intermediate or year 7 - 13 school in 2020 we advise you to check that the enrolment has been received and accepted by that school. This is especially important for schools that have an enrolment scheme in place. Thanks heaps!
FROM THE VS BOT
Kia ora Vogeltown School Whanau,
And just like that, 2019 (and another decade) is nearly over! I’m sure you’ll all be eager for the Christmas break – a chance to spend some quality time together. Not long to go and we’ll be getting sand between the toes and a chance to take a breath!
It’s always busy at Vogeltown School and 2019 has been no different. Reflecting on the year, we’ve achieved a great deal in all areas. The newly elected Board has hit the ground running with many changes and tweaks in the background to support efficiency and continued improvement. A great deal of work goes on both in and outside the classroom, before, during and after the regular school day to ensure our Vogeltowners are getting the very best educational experience it is possible to provide.
For that the Board are hugely grateful to Mr Ogle and his dedicated team for delivering a unique and very personal level of learning for our community. The consultation undertaken earlier in the year and the academic achievement results support that the School is getting it right with exemplary feedback in all aspects. For me, the recent all-school Production personifies everything that makes Vogeltown such a special and inclusive place. It was a memorable experience to see the entire cohort up on stage delivering ‘our’ story.
2020 will see continued improvements to property on both sides of the road. We’re resourced to deliver upgrades to infrastructure and modernise teaching spaces. Having commissioned the new classroom this year, we’re excited to maintain the momentum. We will be continuing our focus on a traditional, values based rounded education for your children – facilitating this is the core priority for your Board.
It’s with sadness that we bid farewell to Dana Baunton and Sheila Parker. It is the passion and commitment of people such as these that make a school. We, and hordes of past staff and pupils are very lucky to have benefitted from your service for such a long time Sheila - the whole community wish you and Frank every happiness for the next chapter!
Thank you to our Year 6 families! We wish you all well in your new Schools as you ‘Go Forward’ representing Vogeltown.
Have a truly special summer together with your families – make some great memories. Happy Christmas and best wishes from the Board and we look forward to a successful 2020!
Meri Kirihimete,
Mike Miners and the Board of Trustees
