Designing Radishes; Learning Spanish!
Second-graders learn first-hand about Mexican traditions in Spanish class by creating their personalized radish designs as part of the Noche de Rábanos, which is celebrated annually in Oaxaca, México. Teacher Michelle Heath ties such traditions into her Spanish lessons as a way to engage students in the learning process. After a vote of the best radish designs, some of which are seen in these photos of students creating their own brand of radishes, Sprague contest winners were named: Doyen in Mrs. Schultz’s class, Aanya in Mrs. Jenkin’s class, and Zoey in Mrs. Jaslikowski’s class.
