The Diary of Anne Frank

Anne Frank

Friendship and family is important

In the Diary of Anne Frank the theme “Friendship and family is important” is seen throughout the play. Anne’s family had a lot of arguments and fights but they always got through it and we're always there for each other. Even though Anne and Peter hated each other at first at the end they became really good friends. The annex was already small enough for Anne’s family and Mr. Van Daan’s family but Dussel (another Jew) needed somewhere to hide, so they took him in and treated him like he was already family. When Mrs. Frank kicks out Mr. Van Daan’s for stealing, and Peter then says he going with his father to and goes to his room angry, so Anne says “ No, Peter! No! I don't care about food. They can have mine! I don't want it! Only don't send them away. It’ll be daylight soon. They’ll be caught”(426). I think that shows a lot of friendship.

Anne Frank

Anne Frank always had hope, bravery, and courage. Anne Frank went into hiding on July 6, 1942. Anne's parents graver her a diary for her thirteenth birthday. She was always writing in her diary. She dreamed of her diary being published someday, when she died and the only one left alive was her father, Mr. Frank. Mr. Frank published her diary for her, and it became very popular even still today.

Hope can keep you alive

In the Diary of Anne Frank the theme “Hope can keep you alive” is seen throughout the play. Miep (a non-Jewish person) would come to the annex and give the supplies and food they needed. But when she wasn't coming around for three days and the telephone kept ring, Dussel had hope it was her trying to warn them. Every time they would hear a Nazi siren come closer and closer to their annex they would all be in silence hoping they weren't coming for them. Before the Nazi’s took them away Mr. Frank told everyone “For the past two years we have lived in fear. Now we can live in hope” (433).

Courage and bravery can help you through tough situations

In the Diary of Anne Frank the theme “Courage and Bravery can help you through tough situation” is seen throughout the play. Every time Anne had to hide from the Nazi’s she would always be brave and have courage with her. It took a lot of bravery for Mrs. Frank to step up and tell Mr. Frank to leave for stealing bread. When they thought a Nazi was in their annex, everyone was scared but Mr. Frank was brave enough to go see who it was. Even though Anne’s family knew they would get caught by the Nazi’s someday, they still were brave and had hope.
