Highland Happenings
Volume 18, Week of January 17, 2022
Principal's Message
Dear Highland Families,
There is no school on Monday, January 17 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. We hope you will take this time to reflect on the contributions MLK made toward civil rights in America. He also called for working out conflicts with kindness and love as opposed to hate and violence. My hope is that we, as a society can do the same.
We continue to implement "The Eagle Way/Al Estilo Águila" with a focus on being KIND/AMABLE, SAFE/CUIDADOSOS, and RESPONSIBLE/RESPONSABLE. Students can earn Eagle Points by demonstrating behaviors that fall under these categories. We keep track of the points in Synergy and students are able to redeem points at our Eagle Store during lunches each Friday. We are in the beginning stages of this endeavor, but we believe it has the potential to be very successful. I am so proud of our students who make good choices each and every day!
Illness continues to run rampant in our community. If students are sick, please keep them home. We are doing our very best to keep up with all of the cases of COVID, but just like much of the country we are being overwhelmed. I want to thank our phenomenal staff who continue to cover for one another because we do not have enough substitutes. We appreciate your patience as we continue to navigate the changing requirements. Please know that it is not our intention to inconvenience families, but we are expected to follow state and county guidelines. For more information I encourage you to visit the BSD website at https://bsd405.org/services/health/too-sick-for-school/.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. We will do our very best to help you out.
In Partnership,
Susan Thomas
