Principal's Message
Dear Henry Ford Families,
Welcome back from Spring Break! I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing time. We are very excited to know that more of our students will be starting In-Person Learning this week on Thursday, April 8. With the additional students who are coming back, we'll have more than 60% of our students on campus for either the morning session that starts at 8:15 AM or 8:30 AM or the afternoon session that begins at 12 noon. All students will receive a morning or afternoon snack on campus prior to their daily 15-minute recess. Students may bring their own snacks if they so desire.
If your child is one of the students who will return this week, you should have received the letter with instructions on the safety protocols and morning check-in procedures. In case you want to take another look, here is the link.
As part of the recommended school safety measures, prior to students entering campus, a health screen check takes place as well as taking the students' temperatures. Also, we are not allowed to have visitors on campus. Parents and other family members are not allowed during school hours. Like in the past, if you need to check out your child early, you may come to the office to sign your child out of school, and your child will meet you outside the School's entrance gates.
It would be helpful for students to bring a backpack with a water bottle in a separate outside pouch, chromebook or ipad and charger, and an optional snack. They will be given new school supplies to use and to leave in their desk at school. There is nothing like a fresh box of crayons to start a new adventure in school! Teachers will share their expectations for the rest of the year on the first day of return.
A student’s day who starts in person for half the day at school, will need to work on assignments at home for the other half of the day for a total of a full day of instruction and school work. This is also true for the students who don’t start school until the afternoon. Their day starts at home with asynchronous work in the morning before starting class in the afternoon for a full day of instruction as well. Students who remain in Distance Learning full time are expected to work on asynchronous work in the morning and will be in attendance with their teacher virtually in the afternoon. Wednesdays continue to be an asynchronous day for all students.
Again, welcome back! We are so excited and grateful to have so many more of our students on campus.
Sincerely,
Al Rosell, Ed.D., Principal

Principal Advisory Committee (PAC) Update
We would like to thank those parents who expressed their interest in joining the Principal's Advisory Committee (PAC). We will announce the members, both parents and school staff, in the following newsletter. These members will serve this Spring and into next year. The group will focus on moving Henry Ford forward, addressing concerns in the community, and proactively working on areas of focus. To contribute ideas to the committee for review, feel free to complete this Form, and the Committee will begin reviewing these ideas in our bi-weekly meetings starting April 15, at 6:30 PM. We can’t wait to get started!
Student Orientation Day, Preparing for In-Person on April 8
Dozens of new students filled the School hallways the week prior to Spring Break. Many of these students had never been at the School before. They came for the School Orientation and Safety Meeting in preparation for their first day of return to In-Person Teaching and Learning on April 8. It was great to see so many students who will be joining the additional students already on campus. Pictures below show how we organized the students in small groups as they toured the School.
Principal Rosell's Spring Writing Challenge
Principal Rosell challenged students prior to Spring Break to write a story of their choice. He is looking for the best story from each grade level from Kindergarten - 5th grade. It is not too late to submit your entry. Open the pdf below for written instructions as well as the video clip where Principal Rosell talks about how he gets his inspiration to write. All stories will be due the first day of In-Person Teaching and Learning on April 8.
