NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL...
Writing continues to be our school focus this year. Students write often in class, and one time per trimester we have students write a more formal piece as they respond to a prompt. Grade level teams and I collaborate to analyze the writing samples and use the information we learn to continuously improve our writing instruction.
We just completed the first trimester analysis in the text type of opinion writing. It is so exciting to report our students improved their writing abilities compared to last year at this time. Students reported to their teachers they are more comfortable in writing and actually enjoyed responding to this trimester's prompt. As we analyzed this trimester's writing samples, we will continue to work on skills/concepts such as writing structure, citing text evidence when opinions are stated, and adding descriptive vocabulary. We are super proud of our students' progress in the area of writing.
Veteran's Day is this Sunday. I want to take a moment to thank all of our veterans and active military for selfless sacrifice and service to our country. I appreciate you!
