Curriculum Corner
We will continue our WTW and vocabulary routine until the week of March 18. We will not do spelling or vocabulary the week before spring break. When we return from spring break, we will be busy finishing up our Hoosier Exhibition projects and completing NWEA and ILEARN.
Reading:
We will be wrapping up our nonfiction reading unit this week as we finish our book clubs and I do some short assessments over text structure, text features, main idea & details, inferring, and fact & opinion. We will also begin working on an in-class guided mini-research project to apply the skills we just learned to the research project, in preparation for our upcoming Hoosier Exhibition project (more information will be coming home on Thursday).
Science:
This week, we will be looking on other forms of energy, including electromagnets, generators, heat, motion, and sound.
Math:
We will be wrapping up Unit 5 in math this week and next week. I passed out study guides today. They will be due next Wednesday (3/6), with our test Thursday (3/7).
STEPS to SIEW:
This year, student will be participating in a new curriculum called Second Step. At Stonegate, we will be referring to it as "Steps to Strong In Every Way." Every Friday, students will be participating in a lesson focused on social-emotional learning. This week's lesson will be on Solving Playground Problems.

ZWMS Visit, Parent Meeting, and Social
1) 4th grade will be attending a field trip in the morning to listen to the band, choir, and orchestra perform. They will also have the opportunity to go on a tour of the building.
2) There will be a parent information meeting at 7:00 pm in West Hall. Please enter through door 4.
3) There will also be a student social from 6:30-8:00 so students can begin to get to know kids from Eagle and Boone Meadow and meet some staff!
ENROLLMENT GROWTH AND REDISTRICTING MEETING WITH DR. ROBISON
The important topic of redistricting is always part of enrollment growth discussions. Please join us at Stonegate Elementary on March 5 to discuss our facilities needs as a result of continuing enrollment growth. We will meet from 6:30-8:00 PM in the cafeteria.
Please register to attend at:https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SGE2019 (Free child care will be provided, but you must register for that, too!). We need parents to be aware of the facilities needs, redistricting implications, and funding information related to our enrollment growth in ZCS.

Substitute Teachers Needed!
Attention all parents/guardians! Have you ever thought about getting paid for the time you spend at our school? Becoming a substitute teacher would do just that for you! Think of it as a paid volunteer position. You still get the opportunity to control your schedule and locations you work but have the added benefit of a little extra pocket money! If you are interested in this opportunity you may apply directly on the ZCS website or simply click here! You may also contact the subcoordinator (subcoordinator@zcs.k12.in.us ) for more information. Thank you!
