News from the Nest

Week of 3/14-3/18

Next week we will wrap up our unit on communities by doing research on our community in the past and present. Students will create a brochure of the information they find, and they will decide if life was better in the past or present and support their opinion. Students will take the unit assessment on Wednesday.

Next Thursday is the final day to take AR quizzes for the 3rd quarter.

Next week students will add text features to support the information in their writing and they will begin their final draft.

This week we finished our unit on fractions and began talking about quadrilaterals. Next week we will continue identifying quadrilaterals (square, rectangle, rhombus, trapezoid, and parallelogram) by looking at their attributes. We will also begin working to understand that a shape can fit into more than one category based on its attributes (e.g. a square, rectangle, and rhombus are all parallelograms).

Students will take the quarterly math facts assessments next week. They will be assessed on multiplication and division facts of 4, 8, and 9.

Great job to those that participated in Battle of the Books. It was an exciting competition to watch and it was great to see how well everyone worked as a team. Below are photos of teams discussing their answers during the competition.
