Library Media Center - 3rd Six Weeks-
Decorations created and placed by our students from the Autism unit. Special thanks to Ms. Angie Blanco for collaborating with us!
Getting in the Holiday Spirit
As the end of the semester approached, our library media center was buzzing with activity. We started the six weeks off with CEFA Testing for four days and a week-long Scholastic Book Fair.
Right before leaving for Thanksgiving break, Mrs. Alexander and Mrs. Arvizu collaborated with Mr. Van de Merghel on a lesson plan in which students used a library database to answer their research questions.
Our library media center hosted STAAR testing class displacements during the third week; accommodating over 500 students each day. The semester closed with ACP testing where the Special Education department made good use of the large space to provide their students with a testing environment suited to their needs.
Health Research
Mr. Van de Merghel brought in his students for a lesson on using academic databases for research.
Teaching on the Fly
Mr. Horan sets up the East End for class after being displaced for STAAR Testing.
AP Spanish Students
Mr. Padilla has his students practice for their AP Spanish Exam using the library computers.
Scholastic Book Fair!
Special Thanks...
Dr. Rosenid Badia, Librarian at Franklin Middle School, brought in classes every day for the entire week of our book fair. Our middle school students were eager to browse and add items to their home library collection. Thank you Dr. Badia for helping Hillcrest LIbrary!

Members also chose to read Stephen King's The Shining for it's next meeting this month (January).
Our next book club meeting is Friday, January 22 at 4:30pm in the library. It is open to any and all members: students, staff, faculty and parents. Join us if you can !!

Mrs. Roth's ARt 1 & 2 Class
Last six weeks, Mrs. Roth brought in her class to print out 'selfies' for a project. These students were gracious enough to let us display their finished work in our library!! We are so proud of their work!
