St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 4 | WEEK 6 | 19 NOVEMBER 2020
Gracious God, here at this table we have been, in the company of Jesus Christ, our savior and redeemer.
You have revealed your loving ways to us in broken bread
and poured cup.
Now, as your light has illuminated
our lives. Help us be a light for others.
Amen
Message form the Principal
Our Year 4 and 6 students are in the final stages leading up to the celebration of their First
Eucharist and Confirmation over the next two weekends. I wish them all the best and know
that the students will have a wonderful experience in celebrating their respective Sacraments.
Many thanks to Miss Bechelli, Mrs Buiks, Mr Popadynec and Miss Purvis for preparing the
students.
I wish our interschool athletics team all the best at the Interschool Carnival next Tuesday.
I know they will be great ambassadors for our school. Many thanks to Mr Chatt for organising
and training the students in preparation for the day.
A reminder, students will finish this term on Friday December 11. Students will start school in
2021 on Monday February 1.
Reports will once again be available online from Wednesday December 2.
God Bless and keep safe.

Artist of the week
The Artist of the Week is Cerise with her amazing succulent art. Her favourite thing about her artwork is how she used lots of analogous colours and the blending of the oil pastels. Cerise loves drawing with paint and textas and her favourite colour is blue.

P&F Containers for Change initiative
You may have noticed a new big blue bin has arrived at St Columba's this week. With help from Scouts WA, the P&F are participating in the Containers for Change recycling scheme to fund-raise for our school. Each eligible container is diverted from landfill and can be cashed in for 10 cents each.
Most aluminium, glass, plastic, steel and liquid paperboard beverage containers between 150ml and 3L are eligible for a refund. The scheme targets beverage containers most commonly seen as litter.
At school, containers can be placed into the big blue bin outside the pedestrian gate between Kalyara Mia and the library. Lids should be removed before placing containers in the bin and can be recycled by placing them in the drawers inside the doors of Kalbarri Mia.
You an also drop off your containers at one of the refund points throughout WA and provide our scheme number ID C10291391 with the donation going directly to the P&F.

Robocup
On Friday 13th November, nine students from Year 5 and 6 competed in the 2020 Robocup competition. The school entered two teams named "The Circus Girls" and "The Retro Gods". Both teams competed in an onstage performance in the novice division and gave an outstanding performance. They showcased how well they had refined their dance moves, robot design and its choreography. Both teams were then invited to Saturdays final competition and put on a very high level of performance again. Many comments came through praising the students' work.
We have many people to thank including various teachers who helped along the way and the supportive parents that came to watch.
Well Done team! Your hard work and determination to perform well was shown on the day.
