It's Women's History Month!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Most students must continue and are expected to pay for school meals. The only exceptions at this time are free breakfast for kindergartners, and free meals for families in the free and reduced-price lunch program.
Some confusion arose after the Minnesota House of Representatives’ recent passage of a measure that would provide universal school meals for all students. Only If also approved by the Senate and signed by the governor into law will each student — regardless of their family’s income level — receive free breakfast and lunch at school each day.
The Red Wing School Board updated the district’s school nutrition policy on Jan. 17, 2023. Copies in English and Spanish are included with this email. If you have any questions, please contact me at japena@rwps.org.
On behalf of our staff, thank you for the privilege of serving your children nutritious meals.
Jess Peña
Student Nutrition Services Director
