Happy December
Hello ALMS Families,
This is our last Friday Newsletter of the calendar year! With all the hustle and bustle of the school days we sometimes miss opportunities to share with our school community. We are deeply appreciative of the support and the partnership we enjoy from our ALMS community. Middle School is an adventure for all involved, students, faculty and families. I am so pleased to take on this adventure with you! Thank you for all you do to support your children as they develop and grow into amazing young people.
We wish you all a safe and restful vacation week. Happy Holidays to all who have winter celebrations.

My Sister's Keeper Have Their Last Meeting of the Calendar Year
ALMS Debate Team Tournament Results!
Congratulations to the ALMS Debate Team coached by Mrs. Johnson, who competed for the first time on Saturday December 17th in the American Debate League Public Forum Tournament. The team took home a total of 10 individual medals, the 2nd place group trophy, and won 1st place sweep against all other 13 middle schools in their competing division. The tournament had a total of 400 participants, and lasted for 8 hours. ALMS’s team which consisted of five groups competed for 8 hours against 33 other groups, 13 other schools within their division and all five ALMS groups placed within the stop 11 of scoring. Special thank you to Mrs. Washington, Mrs. Plaxin and Nurse Shannon who chaperoned. We look forward to our next competition!
PAVE Applications Open!-Attention Rising 9th Grade (Current 8th Grade) Students
Applications for the PAVE program are due on February 3rd. The application will remain online this year as opposed to a paper copy. Rising 9th and 10th-grade students are encouraged to apply.
We will. hold in-person auditions for Performing Arts programs (Acting, Band, Dance, Orchestra, Vocal Music) on March 2nd. Visual Art portfolio assessments will remain virtual this year and are due on February 27th.

About the PAVE Program:
The PAVE program, begun in 1999, is an intensive four-year program for students excited about the arts. Many students completing our PAVE program have established successful careers in the arts. Those who did not pursue the arts as a career report that their time in the PAVE program helped them develop the necessary skills to succeed in their chosen career path.
It is equally valuable for interested students in all academic situations: from students with challenging academic course loads who wish to develop their creative talents to those who show promise and interest in the arts but need a little extra motivation to attend all their scheduled classes. It is a wonderful way to nurture and showcase talented students to the district and the greater community.
Chromebook Responsibilities
To ALMS Parents and Students,
As a Middle School student, you are required to come to school with your district-provided chromebook charged. The district-provided chromebook is also your responsibility; if it's in your backpack, locker, on a bus, or at home, you must keep it protected from being damaged or lost/stolen.
Please refer to the AUP and Device Loaner Form, which you have signed with your parent/guardian, and review the terms and conditions listed on the form both inside and outside of school. If you have not already signed the AUP and/or Loaner Form, please click on the link above.
To all parents/guardians, please speak with your child regarding Chromebook care and responsibilities. Some of the computers are damaged due to students spilling liquids, tossing them to the ground during recess, getting knocked around in a backpack, or dropping them. Damaged Chromebooks are subject to fees. You may want to consider purchasing a case as was indicated on the school supply list.
