Advisory and WIN at SHS!
We will be rolling out our new Advisory program at Scituate High this year. Please review the slide presentation below. Much more info will be shared with students during the first week of school.

Chromebook Update
Chromebooks
Incoming students in grades 10, 11, & 12 will keep their Chromebook and charger for the coming school year.
Incoming freshmen and new students should have received their device during our freshmen and new student orientation on August 17th. If families were unable to attend, freshmen and new students will see an "IT station" setup in the hallway on the first day of school.
10th Grade will also receive new Chromebook this year! Devices will be swapped out during the first few days of school. More info coming!
Email: technology@scituateschoolsri.net with questions!
Chromebook Insurance for NEW Devices
Device Insurance registration. This link is ONLY for 6th, 7th, 9th, and 10th-grade students receiving BRAND NEW DEVICES.
https://gpo.worthavegroup.com/gpo/scituateschoolsri/
Families can choose to insure their Chromebooks for 1-3 years, with each year of coverage costing $28. The terms of the coverage are available on the enrollment page, but please note that the charger & case are, to my understanding, not covered as part of this term. The deadline to register is September 17th, 2023. Please note that enrollment is OPTIONAL - if a device without insurance is damaged, we will perform the repair in-house & the family will be billed for any parts necessary to get the device back to working condition.
If you have an 8th, 11th, or 12th-grade family that would like to insure their device, please have them reach out to technology@scituateschoolsri.net & we will figure something out (it goes without saying that insurance will only cover existing devices that are in great condition with no pre-existing damages)
Lost Chromebooks & chargers are not covered by insurance.
Stolen devices/chargers are covered by insurance if a police report has been filed.
Best,
Michael Hattayer

From School Counseling
Each year, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation awards 150 college scholarships worth $20,000 to high school students across the United States through the Coca-Cola Scholars Program. Students need a 3.0 GPA and to fill out an online application that requires no essays, no recommendations, and no transcripts by October 2, 2023, at 5 p.m. Eastern.
We want your school to have a Coke Scholar this year!
College Planning Center of RI
The FAFSA is not available until December (exact date has not yet been determined) so we will not be able to do any in school fafsa days until the Spring. You can of course refer your families to the College Planning Center and we can assist in person or over the phone prior to in school visits.
Ant students applying to private schools or schools requiring the CSS Profile can still complete this form beginning Oct 1 so please remember to send those students our way as well as that can also be a daunting form.
September through November we are happy to offer common app workshops, fsa id workshops and admissions workshops. You will also be receiving an email from RIASFAA to set up financial aid night presentations. We will be hosting a few Fafsa nights throughout the state to help accommodate not being in the schools those first months as well as a district wide FSA ID workshop and numerous zoom webinars early Oct..
We also hope to see your students at our College Fair Sept 19th at Warwick Mall. If they register at www.cpcri.org and attend, they will be put into a scholarship drawing as well!
