Norwood Elementary Art Class Parade
Ms. Nina Arlotta (art teacher) had her art students create parade floats for the school. Students worked hard to collect recyclables to use for our floats. Norwood art club, and the entire third grade made parade floats in art class. Students read the book “Balloons over Broadway” and created sketches of balloon floats we would like to see. In art class, each class selected and voted on a class theme, and made a piece of the parade float. It was student led. Also, students collaboratively assembled the float in art. Every student in grade 3 had a float represented in the parade.
Students in the other grades created sketches of balloon floats they would like to see in the parade, in art class. They held their art up while the 3D floats wheeled by.

November's Coffee & Conversation Recap (Scheduled Routines at Home)
Our family service liaison and school counselor discussed routines at home to ensure Norwood superstars are rested and ready to learn at school!
Participants had the opportunity to learn and create different routines throughout the day to support the implementation of successful at home routines.
See some of the created routines below:
Message from the School Nurse
Many students are in need of clothing changes during the school day. Please send a change of clothing to be kept in your student's locker for spills or falls in wet puddles on the playground, etc. We will take any donation of used clothing, but are especially in need of pants of all sizes for boys and girls.
We also want to remind you to keep your student at home if they have had a fever greater than 100 degrees or any vomiting or diarrhea in the past 24 hours. Call the doctor if they have had these symptoms for more than 2 days, or if there is a cough that is not getting better. Please call the nurse if you have any questions about bringing your student to school. Remember that someone must be available to pick your student up from school in the event that they become sick.
Please contact the nurse if your student is in need of immunizations, a physical for school, or help with health insurance.
Remember that the best way to stay healthy is to wash your hands frequently with soap and water.
Thank you!

Dismissal & Pick up Procedures
Please contact the office to update any information that has changed. There is now a way for parents to review and update student contact information themselves. Simply view this short video below that explains the process, or you can click here for written instructions. If you wish to receive emergency text messages from the school (or did at one point but they stopped), simply text the letter 'Y' or word "YES" to 67587 directly from your mobile phone. If you do not receive an automatic confirmation message, contact the main office at 443-809-7055 for assistance.
End of Day Dismissal
Help Us Reduce the Number of Students Arriving Late to School
Each morning we have an average of 50 students arriving after 8:35am! When students arrive late, they may miss morning breakfast, important announcements, time to prepare for their day, and time to build relationships with their teachers and classmates. It’s hard for students to start each day trying to catch up on what they’ve missed.
Absentee Note
When your child is returning from an absence, we ask that you, please, send a note
from a parent, guardian, or doctor stating the date and the reason for the absence. We ask parents to schedule medical appointments after
school when possible. Children should not miss school unless absolutely necessary. We
want our students to be successful learners and it is very important to be in school to achieve
their full learning potential. Children who arrive to school after 8:35 need to go to the office
to receive a tardy slip. Students who have a note from a court, doctor, or dentist will receive
an excused tardy, if they bring the note to the office. Again, please, try and schedule
appointments before and after school.
