Industrial Developments and Labor Conditions
Transportation was improved the day the railroad system and the steamboat transportation were created. People had the chance to travel to farther locations through land and sea. Thanks to the new methods in transportation during the 19th century there was an advancement in business.
Women where being recruted in factories. Word spread around quickly and most women took this opportunity in order to gain money, a job, and more independence. Women of all ages worked in the factories but most were from ages 16-25 years old. They employed young unmarried women that came from local farms.
Women's laboring conditions weren't the best. They were payed two dollars a week and they worked over 14 hours a day. There were also kids that weren't over 10 years old and they had one half hour each, for breakfast and dinner.
