"God Chooses Us"
Mrs. Schau led this week’s chapel service. She enlisted the help of her 3rd/4th grade students as well as a few other students. The students presented a skit about how God uses some unlikely people to be leaders. God chose Samuel, who then chose David, the youngest of Jesse’s sons, to be the leader. God equipped these men to lead. Mrs. Schau reminded us that God also chooses and equips us for service. Sometimes we may not feel like we have what it takes to complete a task or the words to share the Gospel message. We may feel inadequate or afraid. However, we must remember to trust God and ask Him to help us. He will give us everything we need.

You are always invited to worship with us on Sunday mornings at St. Philip. The service begins at 10:00 a.m. This Sunday, our 6th-8th grade students sing during the service, under the direction of Mrs. Schau. We hope you will join us.

MAP Testing
It is hard to believe we have been in school for over four weeks! During that time a great deal of learning has taken place. Next week our students will undergo their first of three rounds (fall, winter, spring) of MAP Testing (Measures of Academic Progress) during the school year. Depending upon the grade level students will take tests in four subject areas (Math 1st-8th), Reading (1st-8th), Language Usage (3rd-8th) and Science (3rd-8th). The results of these assessments will help teachers target instruction for challenging every student, whether they are below, at, or above grade level.
In order for students to do their best, please make sure children get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast before arriving at school.

Sharing Our Stories
Our second graders recently shared their works of fiction with their classmates. Each took a turn in the "teacher's chair" with the full attention of their friends.

Thank You Hot Lunch Volunteers!
Students enjoyed their hot lunch treat of tacos with all the fixings and a fruit treat with whipped cream. Thank you to the volunteers who provided the meal for us. These volunteers are current school parents as well as alumni parents. We can always use more help in the kitchen. In the St. Philip Hot Lunch kitchen, too many cooks DO NOT spoil the soup! If you would like to assist with the next hot lunch please contact Mrs. Tennis. We are always looking for extra hands

A message from our Director of Marketing & Enrollment - Mrs. Bateman
At St. Philip, we know that parents are our biggest cheerleaders and that your "word of mouth" is a valuable tool in helping us continue to grow.
Did you know that there are eight motivators which drive families to want to share St. Philip with their friends, family, and neighbors?
#1 - Experience
#2 - Satisfaction
#3 - Quality
#4 - Passion
#5 - Loyalty
#6 - Trust
#7 - Service
#8 - People
It is our goal to ensure that we deliver on all eight motivators, so you, as parents, are excited to share St. Philip with your community.

Chapel Offering
We gather each Wednesday for Chapel. During this time, a leader shares a message based on a Bible reading. Our chapel service also includes collecting an offering. The offerings will be given to various organizations throughout the year. Currently we are supporting Walcamp Outdoor Ministries in Kingston, Illinois. Walcamp is a year-round camp. Their mission is to provide outdoor ministry where Creation is Explored, Christ is Exalted, and Christians are Equipped for service back home and beyond. Our middle grade students attend Walcamp for outdoor education and spiritual retreats. Several of our teachers have also attended Walcamp when they were students. Some of our alumni have also served as camp counselors during the summer.
Each week teachers will send home an offering envelope. On chapel days, your child may put their offering in the envelope and place it in the collection plate in church.
Our goal is $400.00.
Collected to date: $207.33
