SACBS Bulldogs Upcoming Events
April 10, 2021
Message from Mrs. Runnels
We have some busy weeks coming up. Here is some additional information:
Class Group Pictures - Class group pictures will be taken on Thursday, April 15th. We will have the students spaced on the risers. Students will take their masks off right before they snap the picture and then put them back on. Virtual students may come to take the class pictures, but are not required to do so. We will start with Pre-K 3 and work our way to each class level from there. Please call Ms. Ashly in the front office if you have any questions.
Progress Reports - We start the 4th week of the 4th quarter on Monday, April 12th. This is the halfway point to the end of the quarter and the school year. We don't send paper copies home, as the Parent Portals have the most up to date grades listed. Please call the front office if you need help with your parent portals. All financial obligations must be up to date in order to access the portal.
IOWA (ITBS) Testing - Every year, students in grades 1st - 8th at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica School take the IOWA Assessments. Our 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th grade students also take the CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test). These tests are to help us track growth and achievement. When all data is combined it helps us identify a student's strengths and evaluate areas that may need additional emphasis for individual students, our school and the curriculum. All of this is used to guide us in meeting achievement goals.
1st - 4th grades will begin testing on Monday, April 19th & 5th - 8th grades will begin testing on Tuesday, April 20th. Test will be administered in the morning, so students have to be on time to school. Virtual students will be allowed to come to the school to test. We do not have a virtual option for administering or taking the test, so students must be at school to test.
More testing information will be coming your way next week, as the time gets closer to our testing week. The top three things to remember:
1. Get a good night's sleep - According to the National Sleep Foundation, children between the ages of 6 and 13 function best (health, performance and safety) with 9-11 hours of sleep per night.
2. Make time for them to eat a healthy balanced breakfast. Please limit heavily sweetened foods, as they crash after the sugar wears off. Try to include proteins, fruits, grains, and dairy.
3. Encouragement - Help your child start the day with words of encouragement letting them know you are proud of them, take their time, and do their best. Your heartfelt words of encouragement may be even more powerful than you think.
As we get ready to start our 4th week of the fourth quarter, let's continue to do our very best. Remember, all we have to do is say the name "Jesus" and He is there to help us. With God's help, I am looking forward to all of us finishing strong!
God Bless,
Mrs. Runnels
