Welcome to the Prairie Point Panther Press!
Appreciation Cards for Veterans
Community Outreach Committee is still accepting cards made for veterans to be mailed out before Veteran’s Day. Please send in any cards, letters, etc. to the school by next Monday (10/31). And remember, there is a new traveling trophy that will be awarded to the M.C.C., “Most Caring Classroom” for each of our projects.
Thank you for your time!
Halloween Day Reminders
The Halloween parade for full-day kindergarten through 5th grade is before the class parties.
Volunteers may arrive at 1:50 and must have their ID with them.
Party volunteers will help children with their costumes. The parade will start at 2:05 and will be outside, walking around the school, weather permitting. All are invited to come watch the parade. (If we have issues with the weather, the parade will happen indoors and parents will be allowed to come into the gym to watch.)
The parties will start after the parade, in the individual classrooms. Please remember that parties are for Prairie Point students only and the parent volunteers who are on the approved party volunteer list.
Thank you!

Author Visits
We were fortunate to have two author visits last week.
On Thursday, Bruce Coville entertained 3rd and 4th grade classes as he discussed his newest book, Hatched, and his writing process.
Author and illustrator Jon Klassen demonstrated his drawing techniques and shared his newest book, We Found a Hat, with our kindergarten and first grade students.
Our thanks to Anderson's Bookshop for making these visits possible.

When should my student stay home from school?
Your child is too ill to go to school if he/she has any of the following symptoms:
· Vomiting and/or diarrhea in the past 24 hours
· Shortness of breath or wheezing (not controlled with an inhaler if they have asthma)
· A cough that interrupts his/her normal activity or wakes them, or other family members at night.
· An undiagnosed rash unless cleared by a physician’s note
· Drainage from the eye
· Severe sore throat
· Fever- If your child has a temperature of 100° (or higher) in the past 24 hours they cannot attend school. Children are to be fever-free for 24 hours, without the use of fever reducing medication, before returning to school.
· A contagious illness that is treated with antibiotics, such as strep throat or pink eye, and has not been taking the antibiotics for a full 24 hours before returning to school.
Donations of girls and boys small size (4-8) pants are needed in the nurse's office.
