The teachers say...

Spelling tests will now be every Friday instead of every two weeks. The list can be found on the 4th grade link to the MJS site and is sent home every Monday.

Important Dates:

April 7 - Google Project Day

April 8 - Unit 18 spelling test

April 11 - Homework folders go home

April 12 - Topic 11 math test


Math: We are continuing our work with fractions. We are so proud of the hard work the fourth graders are putting in to these new concepts! On April 12th, students will have a test on all of topic 11, including the items from the quiz before break.

Spelling/Writing: Lesson 18 (prefixes re-, un-, and dis-) The test will be this Friday.

English: We are going cross-curricular in English and are creating bibliographies for the science ocean animal reports. Also, we will delve into the world of prepositions and prepositional phrases.

Science: Students are finishing their rough drafts of their research projects. Instructions will come home this week that will explain how to put together the final copy, due April 19th. 4S will finally get their turn at robotics beginning next week.

Reading: We are beginning the novel Island of the Blue Dolphins this week. This is a Newberry award winning novel of historical fiction about a Native American girl living on one of the Channel Islands.

Social Studies: This week were are reviewing important events during the 1850s and playing a Gold Rush simulation dice game!

Religion Corner

He is risen! Alleluia! We are in the Easter Season, which lasts 50 days. It will end with the celebration of Pentecost, which is when the Holy Spirit came down upon the Apostles and gave them the courage to go out and spread God's message.

Outside Reading Logs

The goal for the second semester is 600 minutes. Log sheets are located on the fourth grade website and in the classrooms. The due date to submit minutes is May 31st. Don't wait until the last minute!
