3. Nationalism- loyalty and devotion to a nation

4. Trench Warfare- warfare in which the opposing forces attack and counterattack from a relatively permanent system of trenches protected by barbed-wire

5. Selective Service Act- a national conscription bill passed by Congress on April 28, 1917
