welcome new stylist

We couldn't be more excited to welcome you!

Stella & Dot was created by bold, joyful women to help any individual style their life as they see fit. Below we will introduce you to our leadership team, share our top tips for new stylists, and help you get started with your new business. We ask that you really put yourself all in and give this your best try. You might just find you are onto something really big!

You are officially in business. You are an entrepreneur and while you are in business for yourself - you are certainly not by yourself. We work together as a team to help make everyone stronger. While our press and media impact is quite large, we are still very small in the industry of global fashion. We are a billion dollar fashion brand in the making... and we will reach great heights because of our irresistible product and because of wonderful stylists like YOU.

By now you have signed up as a new stylist, named your website, and you likely have a long wish list of must-have accessories. Our goal is to help you stay on course and work towards your goals. Make sure to take a look at the check list to follow and work with your sponsor and upline leaders to help you with the getting started process. We are so excited to be your business partners.

Raising a glass and toasting your future success!

We have fun & we celebrate YOU!

You're Now Open For Business!

Set-up and Displays - You will find some great tips for your accessory display in SDU. Build out your collection as fast as possible, and maximize those Jumpstart benefit! ;) A good starter display recommendation includes a set of five trays and two neck forms, which can be purchased in the Stylist Lounge.

How many pieces do you need? - A successful trunk show can have 7 pieces or 70 pieces. When you have fewer items, your excitement and our beautiful look book are your best tools. But a good starting point is about 30 pieces, or 5 trays filled with well-edited "looks."

Business Cards - Check out the links in the Stylist Lounge under Your Business > Marketing > StellaDotPrintShop or Vistaprint. Tip: No need to include your address, so use that space for other wording such as "Host a Show, Earn Free Accessories!" or "We're Growing! Ask me about the Stylist Opportunity!"

LABEL EVERYTHING with your Personal Web Site (PWS).

Email signature - Update your email signatures and social media accounts to show that you are open for business. Find a ready-made signature in Stylist Lounge. I also love MyESig for email.

Create a big list - Create your "Who Do You Know List" and include everyone. They are all going to fit into your business as a Stylist, Hostess, Client or Referral Partner.

Stella & Dot University - SDU is a wonderful resource to find printouts, powerpoints, videos, webinars and more. Tip: As a new stylist, focus on the "Booking" and "Words to Say" training. Self-teach and master the verbiage while making them your own.

Getting Started Guide - Open up this magazine and use it. What a beautiful business plan!

What to Focus On...

Think of the few weeks as your training period. Jump in! Have fun! Your main focus will be on two things: booking trunk shows and finding your voice.

Focus #1: Booking trunk shows - Trunk shows are the heart of our business. They are fun, engaging and involve wine, jewelry and great friends. ;) What's not to love?

You are now a Stylist and offer an accessories line that's affordable, adorable and all-around wonderful! Be confident in yourself and your new venture and start spreading the word about your new business.

3-part process to booking:

1.) Start by making a list of 40 people you know who are in different social circles, such as: college friends, book club, church, mommy group, coworkers, family, acquaintances, husband's friends and colleagues, baby boomers, college-aged girls, neighbors, doctors, networking groups, etc.

2.) With your list, you will proceed with a warm-up. This could be in the form of a text message or email with a cute pic or video. You could mail out a look book to your 10 closest friends and family. Or perhaps you will see some of the people on your list in-person within the next week or two. Your goal here is to introduce them to Stella & Dot, and to let them know that you are now their "go-to girl" for accessories.

3.) Call 'em! This is the most important step! Make a personal connection with the people on your list and offer to do a fun trunk show with them & their girlfriends. Chat with them, be friendly and warm - and be yourself! Connect with them & listen with genuine interest. Offer two dates and see if it works with their schedule. If now is not the right time, tell them, "Well I'd love to be your go-to girl for jewelry! Let me know if you ever have questions or have your eye on something."

Making a list of 40 people and reaching out to those people with a personal phone call will result in at least 4 trunk shows. And you might find that you book far more than that! But the average numbers remain the same: talk to 10 people to book 1 trunk show.

Focus #2: Finding Your Voice
Your authentic voice - or verbiage - will come with time and experience. That's why you are going to focus on this skill and practice! :)

2 ways to do it:
Watch some of the videos in SDU about the group hello and booking. Watch the Faux Trunk Show video and write down some pointers. Read the "words to say" PDF. Observe your upline leader or a fellow stylist at her trunk show, if possible. The point is that you will pick up on wording and nuances that you like and that you can relate to. And when you do, you can incorporate them into your own booking conversations and trunk shows!

Practice. The first day you rode a bike, it didn't seem very easy. But now it's a breeze, right? It's the same for anything in life and this is no exception. Practice making a list and warming people up. Practice your "words to say." Practice your group hello. Before you know it - in a about a month or two - you will feel like an old pro!
