Arbor Springs November Newsletter
November 1, 2016
Our Mission: Arbor Springs Committed to Student Success.
From Dr. D. and Dr. T.
Thanks to everyone for the wonderful support of Gator Run! Students were excited to run on the new track and our support from D.J. Laidlaw made it even more fun! We really appreciated the continued efforts of the PTA and our community partners for making this possible. By the way, signs along the fence recognize some of our key contributors this year. As President Becker notes below, we think this was the most successful Gator Run ever! Woohoo!
Students also enjoyed Career Day (Thanks, Mrs. Clay) and Family Fun Night in October. We think we had a record turnout for Family Fun Night and enjoyed trying to guess who our friends were underneath the masks and makeup!
Grandparents' Day will be celebrated November 11 with a light breakfast, coffee, presentations from our students, and classroom visits. Breakfast will begin at 8:15. Our first book fair will also begin that day, so check your student's bookbag for more information! As in the past, students will be able to provide grandparents with a wish list to shop for them. Book Fair will end on November 17. Remember, books make great gifts!
Thank to L.A. Rams player Alec Ogletree for donating 50 vouchers to the Annual Turkey Drive at Newnan High School. The drive will be November 17 from 5-7 PM. Students who receive vouchers will be able to take their family with them to this fun event!
If you have a green thumb or just a willing heart, please join us December 3rd for grounds beautification. There's an invitation below for you to RSVP if you think you can help. Thanks in advance to Pastor Craig from Southwest Christian Church and to Mr. Jim Marshall for volunteering to help with organization. You can come at any time and stay as long as you like!

November 2016
PTA & BoxTops Corner
We had a beautiful day for Gator Run - thank you to all the volunteers and supporters who came out to cheer the kids on! It was exciting to be running on the new track! We will have financial results soon but it looks like it was the most successful Gator Run in Arbor Springs history. PTA will provide so many enriching products and services for our school with these funds and we will not need another major fundraiser this year! We’re looking forward to Sky Zone Spirit Night on Nov. 10 and Santa Night on Dec. 8. Also, PTA is hosting Santa’s Secret Shop again this year from Dec. 5-9 where students can buy inexpensive holiday gifts for friends and family. More details to come! Don’t forget to “Like” the Arbor Springs PTA Facebook page to get updates on PTA and school functions.
Please keep sending in Box Tops, Labels for Education, Sunny D UPCs and Coke codes! The new Box Tops “Thanks for Giving” Contest is in full swing!! Each student from the top class from each grade level wins a Santa Buck ($1 coupon to Santa’s Secret Shop)! Contest will end on December 2nd, so clip, clip, clip!!
Nurse's Notes
Cooler weather is fast approaching!! Along with this time of year comes the dreaded flu!! Please consider getting the flu vaccine for your children. You can check with your pediatrician.
We do have new guidelines from Children’s Health Care of Atlanta. CHOA has set the “send home” temperature at 99.6, so please be understanding when asked to pick up your student.
Attention Pre-k and Kindergarten parents: when you registered your child for school you signed a waiver form for your Immunizations and Hearing/Dental/Vision. The deadline is fast approaching to get those turned in. Most waivers expire November 6, 2016. Many students still need to complete the Hearing/Dental/Vision Form 3300.
Also, place names in your child’s coats, hats, gloves. We have many coats left at school. If they are labeled we can help return them. We do have lost and found if ever you want to stop by and look for your child’s lost items.
**And last but not least….please stress the importance of hand washing!! Nothing can help your child stay well during cold and flu season than clean hands.
Have a great November and a Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
Sincerely, Rebecca Sims RN, School Nurse

Red Ribbon Week
The last week of October students and faculty at Arbor Springs showed our commitment to a drug-free lifestyle by participating in various Red Ribbon activities all week long. Our theme this year was “You Only Live Once!” It is important to devote time to teaching the effects of drugs, making the right choices, and choosing to live a healthy lifestyle!
