PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE by Kayla Bell
Dear Families -
Thank you so much for partnering with us during conferences. 98% of our parents participated in our fall conferences. I cannot thank you enough for your participation. This means we still need to connect with a few of you. If you were unable to attend a conference, we encourage you to email your child’s teacher and schedule a phone conference so that they may share with you the progress your child is making and share with you their goals for the year.
Tonight is our Fall Festival from 5 to 8 pm. Our NRCO has been working hard to create an amazing event for your family. A big thank you to our coordinator Cindi Gauthier, for coordinating all of the games, the food and the volunteers. Also thank you to everyone who volunteers to help make this a successful event! I cannot wait to see everyone tonight. And be sure to wear your costumes and come hungry as HOME PL8 SLIDERS will be here! We will also have Juice It Up and the NRCO will be selling water, pop, cotton candy and popcorn.
We have included a photo gallery of staff costumes at the end of the Croc Talk for your enjoyment.
Enjoy the wonderful fall weather.
Kayla

TALENTED AND GIFTED SERVICES
Every year students are considered for Talented and Gifted services in Beaverton School District. These services are provided by your child's classroom teacher(s). If you think your child might qualify, you may wish to complete the Parent Information Form that is available in our school’s office. Completing this form gives our school TAG committee more information about your child, but it is not required. All qualified students will be considered regardless of its completion.
Oregon law and District policy define gifted students as those who score at or above the 97th percentile on a standardized, nationally normed test of mental ability and/or academic achievement. Behavioral, learning, and/or performance information is also considered before a student is identified for TAG services.
The Parent Information Form must be completed and returned to the school’s office before Monday, October 30, 2017.
SCHOOL BREAKFAST - GOOD FOR KIDS AND GOOD FOR PARENTS!
For parents with busy schedules, it can be hard to make sure that kids are eating a healthy breakfast before they go to school in the morning.
Sometimes children aren’t hungry right after waking up, and it’s hard to find food they like to eat that is also healthy. Also, some kids refuse breakfast at home but are hungry when they arrive at school. Fortunately, we have a great breakfast program for all students, and it’s available at school every day.
If morning meals are difficult for your family, let the School Breakfast Program help you out!
2016-17 School and District Report Cards
School and district report cards for the 2016-17 school year are available at: http://www.ode.state.or.us/data/reportcard/reports.aspx. (Select Beaverton in the District Selection drop-down menu). I welcome the opportunity to share this information with you on the progress we are making to improve academic achievement for each student in the District. We are making progress.
State report cards began fifteen years ago when the 1999 Oregon Legislature passed a law requiring every public school and district to receive a report from the Oregon Department of Education about how they are performing overall. Given the recent passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and the expiration of Oregon's ESEA flexibility waiver on August 1, 2016, the State of Oregon will not assign an overall rating to schools for the 2016-17 school year. Our school ratings in the areas of student achievement and student growth on state assessments and graduation rates are available in our Report Card Rating Detail Sheet at the link above. We have also included the documents on the links below.
