The Joy of Learning! JANUARY
Playmakers monthly newsletter

January is going to be a month full of joy! The children will settle back into the school routine after the first week. We shall start learning about Saint Bernadette as the season for Theater Arts at Living Wisdom School begins. I will announce to the children their part for our theater production the week that we come back to school.
During these final 6 months of kindergarten and pre-kindergarten the children will be growing and developing in new ways. We will see tremendous leaps in social and emotional growth as well as cognitive abilities. The level of dialogue between the kids during their snack conversation usually becomes more sophisticated. As teachers we begin seeing friendships at school grow and change. Children at this stage of development often show an increased desire for independence, as many of you are aware of. Many of the kindergarten students will become delighted to write their own words, idea, notes, or signs. Each child is unique, so we never know just when a child will want to express or develop a new skill. It is an exciting time !
As a teacher watching the children during this time of year is truly like watching a garden of flowers blossom in Spring time. The fine motor skills used for things like painting, writing, and drawing will become noticeably easier for the children. We often find we have more time in class because the children have matured to the point where they know what to expect and they can easily follow directions.
I am looking forward to using our brand new oven in 2016 to bake with ! I am also looking forward to hearing all about the adventures you had over winter break.
I hope this finds you healthy and happy! See you in a few days!

I would like to kindly request that parents say goodbye to their children by 10:30 am at the latest. There are many things related to our classroom curriculum that we would like to finish this term. While we love to have parents and families participate we also know that it can be difficult for some of the children to focus when their moms and dads are at school.
Thanks!
