Opportunity Blocks - Literacy Focus
Once Reading Growth Plans are squared away we will resume meeting with you about Opportunity Blocks. Here are some things to keep in mind:
- This is an across the GRADE LEVEL collaborative time.
- This is designated Tier 2 intervention time; not Tier 1
- Reading is the first focus and groups (across all sections in a grade level) should be formed based on identified instructional needs and it is likely/expected that there will be a heterogeneous mixture among the classes.
- The students who need the most urgent level of intervention should be served by a classroom teacher.
- Special Education Students and English Language Learners - It may not be possible for students to be pulled by their LRC/ESL teacher during this time. Therefore, Special Education Students/ ELL's should be included in your groupings. If you have questions about this, let me know.
- We will need to be thinking about how we will collect data, measure growth/progress with our groups.
Pretty Cool Online Resources
Let us know if you would like to explore these more (if there is a cost). Also, if you have found something - please share with me and Erin.

www.tenmarks.com - This began as a math resource, now added writing - anticipate something for reading too.
