History
Red ribbon week began after the death of Agent Enrique Camarena's (DEA agent)death. Before his death he had been undercover for over four years in Mexico. He had given DEA a bunch of info about a multi-million dollar narcotics manufacturing operation in Mexico. So they began red ribbon week to honor him and to bring awareness to drug and alcohol use.
