Weekly Updates for the week of March 14th
ISTEP Pilot Test
Cumberland Road third graders have been selected to take a digital applied skills pilot. The purpose of the pilot is to test new question sets for future tests. The test will be similar to the applied skills tests they took a few weeks back with essay type questions. The only difference will be that students will be answering on the computer. My class has had experience with the computers and typing on them so they'll have an easier time with that aspect. These tests are just used for testing the validity of the questions and will not be factored in to the ISTEP test scores of the students.
From the YMCA
We have $2.29!
CRES and the YMCA are working together to raise money for the YMCA's Annual Campaign by doing a Jar Wars competition between classrooms from March 14th - 25th. Last year thanks to city-wide donations nearly $15,000 raised from the campaign went to helping families from CRES be able to attend YMCA Summer Camp and Before/After School Program. Y staff will be delivering flyers to send home with students this week. Y staff will collect the jars a couple of times a week and mark each classroom's progress on posters displayed in the cafeteria. Please help encourage your students to bring in their spare change; the winning class wins a pizza party!
