Jacobson students visit with Superintendent Frank Narducci!
We are proud of our student government copresidents. Sixth graders Bianca and Tallen, went to Chandler Unified district offices last week to share ideas about student learning! Our presidents represented Jacobson well; they gave feedback about online learning, what schools might look like in the next 10 years, and what is going well for the JETS! Both Bianca and Tallen said as a community, our students were doing a good job participating in class and remembering its OK to make mistakes.
They also said our school is still helping keep everyone safe by washing their hands between classes and before and after lunch AND spreading out as much as we can!
Mrs. Henry's 3rd graders traveled to "Monstropolis" for a fun day!
2nd graders taking a movement break on our new PTO purchased activities painted on our sidewalks.
2nd,3rd, and 4th ELD students celebrating Fall/Autumn with an art project using real Fall leaves
Battle of the Books
This week our 5th and 6th grade Battle of the Books students had their first battle. They have read 4 books this year so far and were asked several questions about the books. Each team had a spokesperson to represent their team in this exciting event. All the students did a great job conferring with their teams and we look forward to the next battle in January!
Student Brags
Students in kindergarten are hands-on with math concepts! They work in small groups to practice same, more than and less than.
Math lessons begin with a spiral review of important concepts… Then move on to learning new concepts using hands-on activities. Our littlest JETS fly with pride and are confident!
Fantastic Flyer Recognition Assemblies
We are excited to start these assemblies back up this year! This is a JETS tradition that stopped because of covid and it's time we get back to celebrating our community! Our Culture Committee has helped create a new way to run our assemblies this year in a safe manner.
Message from Mr. Merrilat
If your child is in K-2 headphones are needed for your child’s technology class every week. If your child is in 3-6, headphones or earbuds are needed. Our lessons are individualized and interactive. It is important that students have a pair to use EACH week in class. You can find these items for decent prices at Target, Walmart, Amazon and even the Dollar Tree. There are limited pairs for checkout available. If your child needs a pair to borrow for the year because of financial burden, please fill out the link: https://forms.gle/eKSpqZ9k5rkiFM6g6

Important Notice Regarding Traffic Flow Changes
Jacobson Elementary
Drop off and Pick up
Thank you for your patience and support with our traffic challenges. There has been a joint effort to find solutions to alleviate traffic congestion around our school.
Jacobson’s traffic flow are based on recommendations by City of Chandler Traffic Engineers, Chandler Police, CUSD officials, and Jacobson Site Council.
Traffic flow is designed to expedite traffic flow in and out of drop off and pick up locations.
Student Drop Off/Pick Up in the West Parking lot: Cars must enter the West parking from the west only (turn right into the lot) and exit west (turn left onto Jacaranda) only. The West parking lot is for K-2 students and siblings only.
If you do parent pick up, please display the paper with your child’s name and teacher.
Student Drop Off/Pick Up in the East Parking lot: Cars must enter the East parking from the east only (turn left into the lot) and exit East (turn right onto Jacaranda) only.
East parking lot is for 3-6 students and siblings only. Please note the north side of Jacaranda Pkwy is posted No Parking and the City of Chandler removed the crosswalk so we can no longer use the 15 mph signs on Jacaranda Pkwy.
We encourage everyone to obey the No Parking signs. Please note S. Oleander Dr. is posted No Parking as well. Please note we discourage drivers from making U Turns on Jacaranda Pkwy.
Students may not be dropped off in the parking lots.
Parent dropping students off, in the parent pickup/drop off lines, may not have the students get out of the vehicles while in the lines to drop off. This is a safety concern. If you would prefer to drop off your child, please park in the parking lot and walk your child to the gate.
Gates open at 8:10, students may enter to the playground.
Gates close at 8:25, any student that comes in late will need to come through the office.
Last bell rings at 8:30 and students should be in their classroom.
If a student is late, parents must come to the office to sign in the student.
We ask for your continued cooperation.

Great Job with the New Entry on the West Side!
WHO: ALL K-2 Parents who drop off in the morning. Kinder parents will still drop off by the kinder gate as usual.
WHAT: Students will now enter through the large gate closer to the office instead of the smaller gate at the playground.
WHERE: On the K-2 (West) side of the school.
WHEN: Starting Monday, August 30th.
WHY: This will help drop off go smoother.
HOW: We will communicate this multiple times before Monday. There will be large signs reminding parents to keep pulling forward. Be on the lookout!
The Gardens at Ocotillo Senior Living( right across the street from Jacobson) is holding their first public get together since the last few years of the crazy pandemic. The senior residents are opening their car trunks, getting lots of candy, and are having a trunk-or-treat event THIS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 30th from 10:00 am- 12:00pm. It will take place in their west parking lot at 1601 W. Queen Creek Road, Chandler, AZ 85248. The senior residents have really missed seeing our students come visit them and would LOVE to see their smiling faces again dressed up in their Halloween costumes. Come spread some happiness!
