PCS Winter Concert

Dear PCS parents and friends,

This year our Winter Concert will be a little different than in the past. We are performing A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens. The sixth grade will be the actors, and each other grade has a song within the play.

We would love to have all the students somehow costumed for this event. The play takes place in London, England, Winter, around 1847, the Victorian Era. The costumes can be very simple, either peasant, working class, or aristocrat. The time period can be Googled for ideas. Pinterest is always helpful with costumes. We are all here to assist in any way we can.

We think this will be an enjoyable experience and stellar performance.

The date for the show is December 21, 2017, at 6 pm in our gymnasium.

Thanks for considering helping us out in this important cause!

Note from the Nurse

If your child is absent or tardy for any medical appointment or reason, please remember to have your physician provide you with a note for the school. This will allow us to record the tardy or absence as excused. We must still mark the absence or tardy on the report card, but it will be reported to the state as excused.

Thank you,

Christine Warburton, RN

Another Note from the Nurse

Notes from the Nurse…

Brrrr…It is cold and windy out there. Our classes go outside for recess almost every day. Physical activity and fresh air is important to their learning. It is very important that students come to school prepared for the cold. A winter coat/ jacket with or without a hood, a hat and gloves are must haves for these cold temperatures. Add snow pants if they are not wearing warm pants or leggings. Don’t forget their feet. Warm socks go a long way for comfort out in the cold. When snow starts, throw an extra pair of socks in the backpack to change in case snow gets in their boots. The students will not be able to play in the snow unless properly outfitted. The Heath Office is not equipped to supply coats, snow pants, socks, shoes or boots.

Please help us keep your child healthy and give her a well needed break in the busy school day; send them to school prepared for the cold!

AND….now that it is cold outside, the heat is on in the classrooms. Some rooms are very warm, so layering is a good idea and please remember to send in a water bottle with your child to keep them hydrated.

P.S. Please take the time to label your child’s outer wear. We have piles of clothing in the lost and found without names, missing their owners!

Please call me if you have any questions.

PCS Peace Posters

Each year, Lions clubs around the world proudly sponsor the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups. This art contest for kids encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace. For more than 25 years, millions of children from nearly 100 countries have participated in the contest.

This year was the 13th year that the Petersham Lions Club sponsored a contest for sixth graders.

The students did tremendous work on their posters. Congrats to all!

Last Day of School

Please remember that our last day of school has been extended by one day due to our no power day.

Last night and today, we held our K-4 Parent-Teacher Conferences. On December 4th, 7th, and 8th, the Petersham Center School's 5th and 6th grade students will be holding student-led conferences instead of our normally scheduled parent-teacher conferences. They will be presenting their personal website portfolio of their work. Information will go out to parents on how to sign-up.

3rd Annual Veterans Day Breakfast and Celebration

On November 9th, we had an incredibly moving Veterans Day celebration for our beloved Petersham community! We are so thankful that so many veterans were able to be with us!!! Marta Cole was kind enough to introduce the whole school to The Missing Man Table ceremony. Thanks also to Frontier Girls Troop 448 for supplying our special guests with a beautiful breakfast.
