Eagle's Edge

St. Therese Family Newsletter - July 7, 2021

Our community is growing...but there's always room for more!

We are so excited to welcome many families into the Eagle family and we hope you'll help us reach out to families who may be looking for a place just like ours.

I remember when I became frustrated with Gabriel's school and was looking for an alternative for our kids. As a public school teacher, making the decision to send our kids to a private, Catholic school wasn't an easy one - but it was the best decision we ever could have made. We have been a proud St. Therese family for the past 10 years, and this coming school year will be our last as Eagle parents (I still can't believe it). My hope is that we can grow our community, sharing who we are with other families who are seeking a special place for their children to grow up.

We have some spaces left in our preschool program and will be hosting our first open house on Tuesday, July 13th. Please share the flyer below in your networks! If you open the newsletter on your device and take a screenshot it's super easy to share on Instagram and Facebook. Know a family with a 3, 4, or almost 5 year-old? Send them a text and invite them to give us a call! We offer 2, 3, and 5 day options.

You can learn more about our referral program below. Thank you so much for your support of our incredible school!

Want to get a head start on Fair Share Hours?

Letimya Clayton (Jumar, 4th grade and Yendora, Class of 2019) is helping us get new furniture from the office where she works - it's a LOT of furniture! New tables, desks, chairs, file cabinets, and more to help update our classroom spaces.

I'll be renting a U-Haul and heading downtown on Wednesday, July 14th (exact time to be determined). What we really need are people to help roll chairs and carry pieces down the elevator into the loading zone to the U-Haul.

We can carpool from the school if you are comfortable, or meet at the building downtown. If you are interested in helping, email Rosemarie at elyoussefr@stthereseschool.org or call the school office at 503-253-9400.

2021-2022 School Calendar

Below you will find the Year-At-A-Glance and a Calendar for the coming school year. If you have any questions, please call the office or email Rosemarie El Youssef.

Every Wednesday will be an early release so that teachers can work with their colleagues at other Catholic schools in our region - it's how we work to improve our practice!

The school day will begin at 8:15 every morning for Kindergarten through 8th grade, and 8:20 for those students in pre-school or pre-kindergarten. While preschool and pre-kindergarten students are dismissed at 3:00 p.m. each day, all other students will be dismissed at 3:15 (except on Wednesdays when ALL students are dismissed at 2:30.

REFERRAL PROGRAM - Bring a friend and get a credit!

Have you bragged about your school community lately? If you haven't, you should! If you have, at least you should get some credit.

Refer a friend to our school and receive ONE MONTH tuition FREE.

The family must fully enroll at St. Therese and stay through the school year - your credit will show on your final billing statement in May 2022.

The family must tell us that you referred them - we will send you a form to complete and return to us so that the credit can be applied. They can note it right on their application form.

Your account and the new family's account must remain in good standing throughout the school year.

This credit does not apply to incidental expenses like hot lunch, extended care, and field trips.

This credit is based on your total tuition divided by 12 payments.

Please feel free to share the flyer below in your networks and encourage your friends to follow us on social media!

Thanks for helping us promote our school!

The uniform policy is still pretty relaxed, but a little more tightened up than it was during our 2020-2021 pandemic teaching year.

  • Students who wish to wear a sweatshirt MUST wear a navy or green St. Therese sweatshirt with logo. There are a few styles to choose from - order from Dennis or see our uniform exchange.
  • Students may NOT wear hoodies, or wear their hood over their head while inside the school.
  • 8th Grade hoodies are the ONLY exception, but hoods may not be worn while inside.
  • Students may wear belt and socks of their choice as long as it follows dress code for appropriateness (no obscene language or images).
  • Students may wear shoes of their choice as long as they are safe (no slides/flip-flops/sandals or other open-toed or open-heeled shoes that could cause a student to slip)
  • Leggings or shorts must be worn under skirts or jumpers.

Free Dress will be the last Friday of the month, and more information will come regarding guidelines for appropriate dress on those days.
