OCTOBER 26 - THE RICHMOND MINUTES
Guide to Everything Richmond
VIDEO RICHMOND MINUTES
WHAT'S IMPORTANT TO KNOW THIS WEEK?
FRIDAY - NO SCHOOL
Because of a staff development day, we will not be having school on Friday, October 27th. We will see everyone on Monday.
TUESDAY - HALLOWEEN - WHAT CAN WE WEAR?
We will not have a school wide celebration of Halloween (not saying we won't have some fun 😀). We know many students are excited about what they are wearing. When it comes to the costume, we treat this day like any other school day. If the costume fits within the regular dress code, students can wear it. Yes, technically a student could come in a Mutant Ninja Turtle outfit or princess dress every day to Richmond.
Important things to remember. :
- No Full Face Paint
- No Masks
- No Props – No Fake Weapons, Wands, Lightsaber, etc.
- No hats or wigs
I cannot make a rule for everything that comes, but if it is a distraction during school, we will ask students to change into something else. Often some of these things can scare some of our little friends.
EXTRA CANDY? - DONATE CANDY TO THE TROOPS
Richmond has made it a tradition by collecting candy and sending it to some US troops around the world. Please consider sending in that excess candy to help out those who have sacrificed so much for all of us. If you know someone who is deployed, let us know and we might be able to send them a box. We will collect candy right up to Veterans Day assembly at Richmond (November 10).
SPONSOR A BOX FOR THE TROOPS
Richmond has to pay for the cost of shipping.
If you would like to sponsor one of the boxes for the troops, it would cost $20.00. We are looking to ship 10 boxes to the troops.
Bring the money to the office or pay our Venmo account: @richmondrockets1441 (type in “Treats for Troops” in box).
THURSDAY - CHARACTER COUNTS AWARD CEREMONY 2:30 PM
Our first character counts assembly is Thursday at 2:30 PM in the multi-purpose room. We will be running a video stream of the event if you cannot make it. If your child is receiving a special award, you should be contacted by your child's teacher.
ONE AND ONLY IVAN - RICHMOND FAMILY BOOK CLUB CONTINUES - TAKE QUIZ
TAKE THE QUIZ TO WIN A BOOK!
After reading the first page through page 70, take our first One and Only Ivan quiz. Your student will have a chance to win a free book.
I hope you are enjoying the book with your family. Even older students have enjoyed this book of memorable characters. To keep up, you should be through page 87 by the end of the weekend. Don't worry. The book is a very quick read.
VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION - HELP CREATE THE WALL OF HONOR
Every year Richmond celebrates our Veterans. We always need help creating our Richmond Wall of Honor. We have students complete a form and add a picture to it. All students will be given one sheet to honor a veteran. Students are encouraged to honor as many friends and family veterans as they can. We will have extras in the office or you can print from the button below.
We will be showing off our Wall of Honor at a presentation on Friday, November 10th at 2:30 PM in an all school assembly. We encourage Veterans to join us for this event. We will live stream the event on our Richmond YouTube Channel.
PUT IT ON THE CALENDAR - VETERANS DAY ASSEMBLY - FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 10 @2:30 PM
