I'm Sarah Ross. I am a senior in high school. Today, I decided to begin making journal entries about my days at school. I am starting to do this because lately I feel very opinionated about some things going on in my school right now. Lately, a lot of my girl friends have been getting in trouble for things they wear to school. This year, my school started enforcing a "new and improved" dress code, so they call it. So far, my friends and I have noticed that only girls are getting in trouble. I never thought of myself as much of a feminist, but I guess sometimes it takes certain situations to bring out different sides of people. Today, we were asked to write an argumentative essay about anything we wanted. Fueled by recent events, I chose to write an essay about how school systems are enforcing a dress code on the female students rather than the male students so that the males will not be "tempted" to be distracted.
