Teaching and Reteaching Behavior - Monday Skill Blitz and Reset
On Monday, we will use the day as a reset. We will start with an assembly in the gym at 8:30, followed by a half-day Skill Blitz. I will send the schedule for that. I would like each teacher to teach the expected behaviors to their students. We will accommodate any class who is assigned a sub on Monday. We will cancel mid-day collaboration to spend time with students during recess. The afternoon will be used to do Significant 72 activities, to reflect on the first trimester through a class meeting, and to revisit classroom expectations. On Monday afternoon I will meet with all of our support staff, with the exception of pre-school. We will meet in the music art room.
We will implement a "Behavior Barbecue!" This will be a reward for students who do not have any office discipline referrals between 11/13 and 12/14 and will take place on 12/15, with all staff enjoying lunch with students during their lunch period on this day.
I would like everyone to reflect on something. Reflecting on the last three weeks, what evidence do you have related to the school improvement plan? What evidence of the home and school connection, teaching and reteaching behavior as we do academics, and believing that you have the knowledge and ability to help students overcome their challenges?
CHAMPs is a valuable resource to us and it should be used to provide students with the expectations they need, every day, in every lesson.
