The Patriot Premier
The Weekly Update for NPHS families, Nov 11 - Nov 16, 2019
Volleyball !
Last week, NPHS hosted the MAC Volleyball Championships on Wednesday and Thursday nights. The gym rang with shouts and cheers both nights, but when the final whistle blew for the championship game Thursday between Lathrop and North Pole, our girls screamed, laughed, and cried as tournament champions...the first time in 30 years! Later, during the awards ceremony, they held high the first place trophy to the music of Queen's "We are the champions." It was quite a night. This week the team heads to Anchorage to compete in the State tournament: Good job girls, you make us proud!
This week, there is no school for students on Monday as it is Veteran's Day. The staff of our school (cultivators of the homeland) appreciate our veterans and active military (guardians of the homeland)...thank you for your service!
Are you a parent or guardian of a senior? We need you! There is a meeting this Tuesday, Nov 12th at 6:30 pm in the NPHS library to begin the planning for GradBash, that happens for our seniors on their graduation night. Contact Larnetia Skipps for more information at larnetia.skipps@k12northstar.org.
And don't forget to check out all the activities coming your way this week below.
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
John Fink, Interim Principal NPHS

Demo Discussion Shannon Bingham, a demographer hired by the district, presents to the NPHS faculty last Monday about what a school start time change might look like. The district is currently taking input from various groups in the community. | Football Season Banquet Coaches of the NPHS football team recognize the players Tuesday night in Oehring Auditorium. The NPHS culinary arts program put on an amazing pulled pork dinner just before the presentations. | Ice Cream Math Good Grades + Good Attendance = Free Ice Cream. Students with a Q1 GPA of 3.0 or higher and/or less than 5 absences were given coupons for a free ice cream. The ice cream was distributed to students by counseling and office secretaries at lunch last Tuesday and Wednesday. |
