The last week has had all classes having in-class speech and poetry competitions. These provide an opportunity for children to share in a secure and familiar setting. The next step for some is our annual SCS Speech and Poetry Competition on Thursday 22 September at 9.30 am. Finalists have been shared via Seesaw. We invite families to come along and support us on Thursday. We hope to see you then. We will select one finalist in Year 4, 5, 6 Speech to represent the school at the Wairau Cluster Competition next Thursday.
Exciting news for the school. We were lucky enough to win a VR experience for the school. It was an online nomination that I put in, and we were one of 6 schools selected from 480 odd nominated! Team Blake will visit and children will learn about our unique marine environment and how you can make a difference through a truly immersive experience. Swim with dolphins, explore the Hauraki gulf, and learn about our marine reserves from their classroom. The date is to be confirmed, a lucky day for SCS.
Artworks are on display in classes for our annual Art product Fundraising. This year we have calendars, cards, diaries, sketchpads & mouse pads available to order. These make awesome presents, and you're also supporting the school to raise funds that this year will be going towards an exciting whole school Lego Experience in Term 4.
The time has arrived when I will be going on sabbatical for the next 10 weeks of school, from T3W9 to T4W9. Cheryl Alderlieste will be Acting Principal over this time, so I leave the school in capable hands.
Remember that Monday 26 September is a public holiday and all schools are closed.

Legion Taekwon-Do is a dynamic martial art, and it is also an exciting sport suitable for all ages and abilities. Classes are for everyone from beginners to advanced levels.
Focused mind, disciplined body and pure spirit through community participation is our motto. Keeping this in mind, we encourage individual growth through a family feel atmosphere whilst practicing Taekwon-Do techniques.
Fees will be free to any Spring Creek School students and to the Spring Creek community. Classes will be Monday 3:15 - 4:15 pm in the Spring Creek Hall from this term. Families need to arrange for their children to go to the hall after school.School Docs
