Monte Vista 2023: October 30th-November 3rd
Announcements for the Week
1) There will be no costume wearing at school on Halloween, October 31st. We did this at our Trunk or Treat event last Friday night. However, on Tuesday, October 31st, we will have our monthly spirit wear day which is Orange and Black Day (along with regular Halloween themed clothed attire socks, t-shirt, sweaters, or hair or earring accessories).
2) Our Grades 6-7 and Grade 8 evening dances will both take place at the Monte Vista multi-purpose room on Friday, November 3rd. Grades 6-7 will be 6PM-7:30PM and Grade 8 will be 7:30-9PM. Food will be provided as well as Halloween treats. There will be a live DJ, and since it is themed the Spooky Holiday After-Party (three days after Halloween), students can wear spooky or costume attire. We welcome parent chaperones; please reach out to us in advance if you are interested in chaperoning, so we can make sure you are cleared with office and can plan accordingly with our staff volunteers too.
3) Parent Conferences will be the week of November 13-17. The entire school week will be early dismissal days at 12:50PM. Most after-school clubs will be cancelled that week. Teachers will be sending sign-ups some time this school week. The designated evening conference session will be Tuesday, November 14th. Trimester 1 report cards will also be received at these conference sessions as well.
4) There will be a Monte Vista Movie Night on Tuesday, November 14th with a brief general PTO meeting beforehand. More details to come on exact time and what movie feature will be playing on the big screen in the multi-purpose room that evening.
5) The EYH STEM Conference and Career Fair for our registered female scholars in grades 5-8 will take place this Saturday from 9am-3pm at Hartnell College. For those registered, please keep posted regarding bus schedule for the day. Feel free to reach out to Mrs. Larson, Ms. Taylor, or Ms. Tarantino regarding any questions.
6) Final Monte Vista Soccer Games of the season are this Wednesday (4PM) and Friday (4PM and 5:15PM ). Come out and support our Blue Jay soccer teams at our lower field one last time for the season. It has a been a great season for them! Jay jay, chirp chirp!
7) Grades 7-8 basketball team rosters have been composed based on students' interest. We will have a grades 7-8 girls team and grade 7 boys team and grade 8 boys team. Practices will start Monday, November 6th and be after school on Mondays and Thursdays (tentatively). Games will begin in December and go through February. We will be playing in the MTJAL league, playing teams from within and outside our school district. Exciting! More news to come soon.
