TMS October Newsletter
Letter from the Principal
Teeland Community,
As we enjoy our extended fall weather, I am happy to share with you that we continue to do wonderful things for kids here at Teeland. Our Cross Country and Soccer seasons were very successful involving a great number of students from all three of our grades. MAP testing went well and the students are starting to settle into their schedules for the year. Currently, we have 7th and 8th grade Basketball, Cheerleading, Guitar Club, Art Adventures, and Lego Robotics taking place. If your student has not spoken to you about joining some type of club or team; please encourage them to do so. We will be starting up Science O, Chess Club, Yoga, Dungeons and Dragons, and Bowling Club soon, and there are still many athletic and academic opportunities throughout the remainder of the year as well.
For the second year, Teeland received the Title One designation from the Federal government. Teeland was allocated a large sum of money to be spent towards improving our instructional program. We hosted a technology night last week in order to help parents gain understanding about the different programs being used at Teeland and throughout the district. We will have three more parent engagement events throughout the year. Information regarding these events is advertised in our newsletters, Facebook page, and through Connect Ed messages. Hopefully you are able to join us for at least one of these nights. We always have food, door prizes and useful information.
I am sure most of you are aware by now that the district adopted a new student information system called Synergy. This system consolidates many of the old programs being used by the district into one. As with any new program, there is a lot of learning to be done in order to understand how to most efficiently operate this system. We are asking for your patience as our staff learns the new system and how attendance tracking is conducted through it. We are doing the best to fix attendance issues, but ask that you give us twenty-four hours after notifying the school to make these corrections. This includes when a student leaves Teeland for sports activities. Please be aware that when you log into ParentVue or call to excuse your student’s absence or tardy, the system will automatically send out an email and phone call to the families. There is not an option to opt-out of receiving these notifications.
In closing, I always encourage you to make suggestions for avenues of change here at Teeland. I believe in the programs that we have to offer our students and parents here at TMS, but I am always looking for suggestions on how we can improve. If you have an idea or suggestion that might make our school better, you can communicate that directly through me, our front office, counselors, or teachers.
Have a wonderful October and as always, if you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
