Veterans Day Assembly & Breakfast
Our annual Veterans Day event was a wonderful success again this year even though the weather was not the best. We had a wonderful turn out! Our guests enjoyed hearing our Special Choir sing the "Star Spangled Banner" led by our music teacher, Miss James. Three talented writers read their essays: Alexys Epp, Jackson Bollinger, and Rebecca Myers. Their tributes to the veterans were amazing. Mrs. Pennington class sang "God Bless the USA" by Lee Greenwood. Daughters of the American Revolution representative, Renee Slinkard, had student Ella Grayham read a letter from the President to the veterans. Three quilts had been made by Jolene Pennington and presented to three veterans as gifts by DAR. The student body sang "In Color" by Jamey Johnson and created a THANK YOU by displaying colors in red, white, and blue. Mrs. Wokutch was the choreographer for this beautiful display in which she included many photos along with two videos of former SES students that are now serving our country. These two young soldiers are also sons of two of our teachers, Mrs. Flynn and Mrs. Maynard. "Taps" was then played by high school student Leah Mailand. Our guests of honor were served a heartfelt breakfast by staff with assistance from our STUCO members. Our Wall of Honor was something to see again this year! We hope all of our veterans are able to attend again next year.
