October 31st- November 4 Newsletter
Fourth, Fifth, Sixth & Seventh Grades all participated in the ACT Now Assemblies hosted by our Student Services Department. Students received some great information to help promote positive mental health. Ask your child to share with you what they learned about and keep the conversation going at home.
Our Student Ambassadors did a phenomenal job again this week representing York at the Magnet Expo at Zoo Tampa. They were able to speak about the amazing things our classes are doing here - school pride was evident to all! Thank you to our ambassador parents who took time to drive out to the Zoo and spend their evening with us!
Report Cards are now available for elementary and middle school students. Parents can access quarter 1 grades and testing results (FAST for grades 3-7 and STAR for K-2) by going to https://reportcards.sdhc.k12.fl.us .

A Note from Health Services
School Health Services personnel will be providing height, weight, vision (eye), and scoliosis screening for students in 6th grade ONLY on November 8th. These screenings are mandated by State law in Florida Code 64F06.003.
If your child fails their vision or scoliosis screening, a referral letter will be sent home to you from the Registered Nurse (Jennifer Butler). Please take the referral letter to your eye care provider or family physician to fill out the form and return to the School Nurse.
If you do not want your child to participate in these screenings, email jennifera.butler@hcps.net with your information, student's name, and teacher. If you want your child to be opted out of the scoliosis screening only, please sign the attached form and have your child return it to the clinic.

Admiral on Deck: Mrs. Smart
Ahoy families! My name is Heidi Smart. This is my 19th year teaching third grade. I absolutely love helping learners transition from learning to read to reading to learn. Iām originally from Nebraska where I attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and moved to Florida in 2003. I love to spend my free time hanging out with my husband and two amazing daughters. We are a dance family so many evenings are spent at the studio watching them do what they love. I hope to see you in carline š
