This Just In
Happy First Day of School! We hope you have a fantastic year!
This year Media Services, ISS and PDL are excited to support your technology needs in all schools through our Mega Meeting. During Mega Meetings (September 24, January 15th and May 6th) we will communicate information around technology logistics, media services and non-instructional information. These meetings are geared toward technology contacts, technology associates, Media Coordinators and the Technology Admin (Google and Apple). I.M.P.A.C.T. meetings are a year long course that will meet five times face-to-face and also have some virtual components, that will center around identifying an instructional problem of practice, or area in which you want to grow, using the PDL framework as a foundation. We will provide varying levels of support, as you research and implement an action plan that focuses on your instructional goal.
For more information about Mega and I.M.P.A.C.T. meetings, please reference the FAQ document in Canvas and by watching this video. If you have any questions, please contact your PDL Specialist. (These meetings will replace the previous DL PLC meetings).

Diving in to Digital Citizenship
The 2018-2019 Digital Citizenship courses for students are LIVE in Canvas this morning! Our team is excited to offer this powerful learning opportunity to all students in CMS. Your help encouraging students to work through these courses will help us achieve the vision that our students will navigate the digital world responsibly and be good stewards of digital tools in order to expand their knowledge and experiences to improve the lives of themselves and of others.
We have added at least one person per school into the courses. In most cases it is your schools media coordinator, technology facilitator or an administrator. For more information about these courses please contact your PDL Specialist.

Your PDL Specialist will visit your school each month to meet with you and/or your designated PDL lead(s) to discuss how we can best support you and your staff with professional development. Additionally, we will discuss the progress of your PDL Road Map, a PD planning document that is designed to align with your School Improvement Plan. Below is our professional development catalogs, where you can request trainings:
"Wikispaces was founded in 2005 and has since been used by educators, companies and individuals across the globe. Unfortunately, the time has come where we have had to make the difficult business decision to end the Wikispaces service." - Wikispaces
Due to the decision that Wikispaces has made to end their service for all users, CMS is adopting Google Sites and / or Canvas as approved website platforms for CMS educators and departments. There will be multiple training opportunities throughout the district. We encourage all users with content hosted in Wikispaces to transfer it to either a CMS Google Site or CMS Canvas course by September 1st, 2018.
