Veterans Day 2015
On Wednesday, the 11th day of the 11th month, we honored and thanked the many men and women who have made so many sacrifices over the years for our country. We did this by hosting a breakfast for our thirty veterans who came, escorting them into a packed cafetorium where they were greeted with thunderous applause, and dedicating a wonderful, patriotic show to them. It was a magical moment here at LMES and I know that our students, staff, guests and parents will remember it for the rest of their lives.
Pledge of Allegiance
At our assembly, the entire school got up to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
Greeting Veterans with Honor and Pride
Our Boy and Girl Scouts, in full uniform, formed two lines and helped to escort our guest veterans into the auditorium. The veterans were also led in by our 5th grade Long meadow Leaders.
Thank you!
We had thirty veterans come to celebrate Veterans Day, and we cannot thank them enough for their sacrifice and service!

Interdisciplinary Units
An interdisciplinary lesson is one that integrates more than one subject at the same time. In fourth grade, I observed a lesson that integrated math (fractions, spatial reasoning) and social studies (geography, communities), as well as critical thinking, creative thinking and citizenship. Students were given a real-world project of designing a park that met specific criteria such as a playground, parking, signs, etc. Students used various resources in the classroom to help them, and the energy in the room was electric!
