CMAS Information
Manning Community-
As many of you are aware, we are beginning to schedule and planning our state testing of CMAS this year. Testing at Manning will begin April 12th through April 15th.
Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) is designed to measure the Colorado Academic Standards and show the degree to which students have mastered end of year grade level expectations. These results are used to enhance instruction and learning for students. It is important to note that CMAS results provide only one measure of a students’ academic progress relative to the Standards. Below are the required grade levels and content areas.
English Language Arts (ELA): Grades 6, 7, 8
Mathematics Grades: 6, 7, 8
Science: Grades 8
There is no remote option for CMAS testing, all testing must be completed in-person, on district property, and only on student contact days. Student and staff safety is our highest priority and all health and safety measures will be followed during testing. Students and staff will not be asked to come into the building to test if it conflicts with state and local health orders. The individual health needs of families will be respected. Students will be scheduled in a safe area where they will have little to no contact with in-person students. To minimize that contact, we would suggest remote students bring a sack lunch. Hot lunch will be available to remote students, but this will possibly require remote students to be in contact with other students.
We honor and respect the decision you will make for your family regarding your participation in CMAS. However we do need you to fill out the CMAS form below. This will allow us to know if your student will or will not be taking CMAS and the number of students we will be expecting.
Testing will begin the week of April 12-15. All students will be following this schedule:
BUTTON BELOW
Please note that 6th and 7th grade students will not attend Thursday April 15th. Additionally, April 15th is an early release day for 8th grade students after they are done with testing.

SEL Corner....a place to fill up your bucket
It can feel like trauma abounds this year. We are all impacted by the shooting in Boulder in unique ways. Not to mention any previous traumatic experiences. You may find yourself hardly responding. You may find yourself angry, tearful, numb, somehow all of those, or oscillating between them. These responses are likely present in our young people as well.
It is ok to turn off the news. It’s ok to filter out information. It will still be there when and if you want to learn more. Encourage yourself, family, and friends to balance between processing the grief and heartache with distractions. And always find ways for human connection. Our connection to each other is vital. People heal in community.
You may process these emotions through music, art, writing, exercise, watching movies, allowing yourself to cry. The point is to find a way to move the emotions through you, so they don’t get stuck.

2021-2022 School Year Update and Remote Learning Program in Jeffco
Jeffco Public Schools is launching a new remote learning option for the 2021-22 school year - the Jeffco Remote Learning Program (JRLP). In response to high demand from our families, this program was created as an alternate education environment that suits students who find success in remote learning.
All PK-12 students will have a 100% remote learning option through either Jeffco Virtual Academy (JVA) (6-12) or a Jeffco Remote Learning Program (JRLP) (PK-12). The learning options are designed to facilitate high-quality learning opportunities in both learning environments. Providing these remote learning opportunities (JRLP and JVA) will significantly reduce the need for educators to lead a class with both in-person and online students.
- JRLP students will be officially enrolled in their school of choice, but will participate in this remote learning program. Students who choose JRLP will remain connected to their current school for communications, athletics, events, all school activities, assemblies, dances, and maintain a virtual connection with current school staff on a regular, weekly basis.
- The JRLP will offer synchronous learning (synchronous online learning means that students are required to log in and participate in class at a specific time each week with live instruction and engagement between students and teacher). The amount of synchronous learning will differ by grade and course.
- Jeffco teachers will teach Jeffco curricula.
- Special Education, GT, ESL, SEL, and counseling services and support will be available.
What does this mean for my student at Manning?
Below are some links to some comparison charts and a how to guide on how to apply for this program.
If you desire to apply for the Jeffco Remote Learning Program for the 21-22 school year, you must go back into Enroll Jeffco and submit a round 2 application for this program. It does NOT in any way affect your spot here at Manning, and you would be serviced by Manning for some of your educational needs. It does mean that your student will not have Manning teachers for the majority of their education, and please know that Manning will NOT be offering any remote options next fall.
The deadline to apply for this program and maintain your spot at Manning is April 7th. After that date, you may not be guaranteed a spot in the Remote Learning Program.
Any offers sent for remote learning will also expire after 3 days. A family has not officially enrolled in the Jeffco Remote Learning Program until they accept their offer. If the offer expires they would need to log back in to EnrollJeffco and reapply.
2021-2022 Carpool Information Form
The Manning School is gathering information from families who are interested in carpooling for the 2020-2021 school year. If you would like to have your information included in this carpool list, and posted on the Manning website, please fill out this form and your information will be added to the carpool list.
The first list will be published on April 30, 2021 on the Manning Website. This list will be updated on FRIDAYS as students are enrolled, so check back often to find a carpool ride that works for you. Families are responsible for arranging their own carpools.
At Manning, we strive to live our core values every day.
Student Shout Out for HONESTY
Matthew Oberly: Today I had a great conversation with a wonderful young man who was engaging and kind. We spoke about how he likes walking to and from school which can take up to 45 minutes and what a great way to clear his mind while getting his exercise. I was inspired because I too know how much better I feel when I am able to engage in exercise which helps to clear my mind and start or end my day. Matthew is such a creative and nice student. He is such a pleasure to be around.
Student Shout Out for EFFORT
Sophia Grimes: She had an assignment she needed help with, came for Tutor Time and was willing to learn and change mistakes she made. She showed amazing Effort in sticking with a hard lesson and I am sure she felt proud of her grade, but also her new learning!
Hadley, Evelyn, Ava, Sophie, Zo, V, Emerson, Mackenzie, Grishma, Quinn, Jenna, & Yessiry: Stayed on zoom for an extra help session with Mr. Fulton and show effort and heart with their decision to put in the extra work to get better.
Elise Sara: Working hard and having an attention to detail with online school.
